A short BIO: Jon started playing gigs at the age of 12 and has been playing live ever since – playing nightclubs, concerts, recording studios, radio spots, documentary movie soundtracks, recording and composing original music.
At the age of 22 Jon was praised and recognized by world famous Grammy Jazz artists Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and The Jeff Lorber Fusion Group as a great guitarist.

Known as “teacher of the stars”
Jon was the Teacher of Barry Sparks who was the bass player for DOKKEN, Scorpions, Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force band. Barry is currently playing in Japan with The B’z.
Taught world famous television star Ty Miller of the “Young Riders” TV series.
Taught Joe Jett (cousin of Joan Jett).
Jon was guitarist for drummer Tom McCormick of “The Tubes” and blues guitarist for famous Chicago Blues Legend “Little Johnny Taylor” and has played numerous concerts opening for artists such as Al Green and Lenny Williams (Tower of Power) and many others at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix Arizona in addition to other venues.
1969-1979 Played professionally in nightclubs, recording studios, on the road.
1977 Was recognized by world famous jazz recording artists Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and The Jeff Lorber Fusion Group at the age of 22. Worked a year as a professional music copyist writing out by hand, orchestral scores for local concerts at the Tucson Music Hall and various TV and radio commercials. Worked for Jeff Haskell at the U of A as a copyist in addition.
1978 Blues guitarist for “Little Johnny Taylor”.
1979 First year of performing at major concert auditoriums with national artists such as Al Green and Lenny William´s of Tower of Power funk band.
1983-2015 (CURRENT) Perform in the Arizona area. Teacher in Tucson, Arizona at Jon Rittmann Guitar Studio.
1983- FEBRUARY 2011 Head Guitar Teacher at Guitars Etc. for 27 years. (Guitars Etc went out of business in January 2011)
2011 – FEBRUARY – Opened JON RITTMANN GUITAR STUDIO in the foothills of Tucson where he teaches all his students. “I have been teaching professional Guitar and Bass lessons for 39+ years and have taught over 3000 students to date in my teaching career.”
2011-2015 – Jon Rittmann Guitar Studio is bursting with new students weekly and looking forward to another great year!
